The layout
We focus on maintaining your bike so that it will run more efficiently and so that you can get longer out of it before having to replace components and pay a visit to your mechanic.
The 2.5 hour session is mostly observational, but I do try and invite each participant to carry out one task, if they wish.

- Meet at 18:30 for tea and greet before we start at 18:45 and finish at 21:00
- How to change the inner tube after a puncture, properly and effectively, and how to remount wheels correctly
- Assessing health of the wheel, rim and hub bearings.
- Setting up tubeless tyres
- Looking after the brake system (cleaning and changing brake pads on rim brakes and disc brake)
- Setting the brake mechanism up for rim brake re cable tension. (we do not bleed hydraulic brakes but happy to answer questions on it)
- Headset : When and how to change bearings.
- Assessing the health of the chain, when to change it and how to change it (cut it to the correct length)
- Assessing the health of front chainrings and rear cassette and how to change them
- When to change brake and gear cable and housing and how to do it
- How to tune gears for front and back derailleur
- General washing and cleaning bike and lubricating chain correctly.
