The Coaches
Jack G. O'Halloran
Jack, a physiotherapist and mobility coach with a deep fascination for biomechanics and pain science, has been practicing clinically since 2017. His comprehensive education in diagnostic techniques, manual therapy, pain science, and rehabilitation laid a strong foundation for his diverse professional journey. He has worked with Irish hockey masters, contributing to several Celtic Cup victories, and was instrumental in Cork camogie's 2022 all-Ireland final run. Additionally, Jack developed wheelchair skills courses, created the 'Recover & Thrive' program for over 30,000 Northern Ireland civil service staff, hosted the 'Life Fit Podcast', and coached 200k ultra runners. Clinically, he has managed a variety of complex cases, ranging from chronic back pain to sports-related injuries. Jack's approach in injury prevention and rehabilitation is tailored, fun, and engaging, focusing on understanding individual movement patterns and pain experiences. He is committed to guiding clients from recovery to thriving, emphasizing a personalized approach to health. Outside work, Jack's interests include playing guitar, participating in GAA, sea dipping, and delving into philosophy and law books. |
Robbie O'Driscoll
Robbie offers a pragmatic approach tailored for triathletes seeking to optimise their performance. With 13 years of coaching experience his expertise spans mobility and rehabilitative exercise, neuromuscular therapy, and strength training, focusing on practical applications that enhance physical capability and injury prevention. As a family man and practitioner in both sea swimming and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, he understands the importance of discipline, and flexibility. His approach balances rigorous, evidence-based training with the enjoyment of physical activity, ensuring athletes not only reach peak performance but also maintain a healthy, long-term relationship with their body and sport. For triathletes seeking a coach who blends scientific knowledge with practical experience and a philosophy of sustained fitness and enjoyment, Robbie offers an effective, results-oriented coaching style. |
John Phelan
John is a seasoned musculoskeletal physiotherapist with over 13 years of experience, particularly in sports physiotherapy, focusing on triathlon and cycling. He holds an MSc in Physiotherapy and a BSc in Nutritional Science, and in 2016, he launched "The BikeFit Physio," a renowned Physio Bike Fitting service with 127 five-star Google reviews and over 1200 clients. His offerings include physio bike fit and sizing, running gait analysis, injury management, cycling shoe fitting, rehabilitation, metabolic testing, nutritional and training consultations, coaching, and various workshops. John's expertise is backed by extensive training with GebioMized and his status as a level 3 bike fitter with the International Bike Fitting Institute, employing advanced pressure mapping technologies. He is also active in delivering talks on cycling performance and injury prevention and specializes in pain science, lower limb tendinopathy, and low back pain, details of which are on www.lifefitphysio.ie. Outside of work, John enjoys Cyclocross racing, fatherhood, home-brewing, and meditation. |
The course begins February 6th and aims to both improve performance, and the training experience itself, by covering, in depth, practically and theoretically, topics such as:
The course consists of:
- Reframing the game; exploring the mindset that unshackles slavery to data by gamifying the training process.
The necessary strength and mobility requirements for each discipline and how to develop them. - Relative stress management in training and performance.
- Recovery optimisation including race nutrition.
- Nuance coordination details for both performance and wellbeing, including cyclist pelvic health, and breathing.
The course consists of:
- one in-person group session per week (Tuesdays from 6.30 pm to 8 pm)
- one live webinar per week (Wednesdays at 1 pm to 2 pm)
- one online Q&A session per week (Fridays 1 pm to 1.45pm)
