Fully comprehensive bike fit : This is our advanced level bike fit. It is the physio bike fit and then some.
Fully comprehensive bike fit includes:
  1. All services from the Physio bike fit
  2. Physiotherapy treatment for any complaint
  3. GebioMized foot pressure mapping is used to assess the distribution of pressure/force in the shoe, and from this information, we can see how stable the foot is in the shoe and how the pressure from the foot is being distributed in the shoe.  We can use this pressure feedback to guide the use of props to help shift the pressure/force to the correct areas to improve the foot:pedal and foot:shoe interface.  Foot pressure mapping also provides very detailed insight into your pedaling quality using force/time plots.  The force time plots detected from the foot pressure mapping insoles are a very detailed way of looking at how smooth your pedal stroke is and how smooth you are transitioning through the pedal stroke quadrants.  An efficient pedal stroke is one that contains a longer peak force by pushing across the top of the pedal stroke so as to get as much out of the 3pm position as possible. i.e spend longer at peak force output.  We can also pick up when a rider is loosing smoothness or otherwise called a deadspot in the pedal stroke.  This is indicated by a break or jump in the force line on the graph.
  4. Foot Activation: We first focus on providing the foot with a foot bed/insole that will provide the necessary contact with the foot along the arch and allow for proprioceptive feedback.   This contact/proprioceptive input is picked up by the brain via the central nervous system. The CNS needs to be fully involved in cycling in order for the body to function to its best ability.  We know that once the CNS is allowed to work properly, the lower limbs are better co-ordinated, the pelvis can improve its stability and control, and there is a better all-round feeling of connection with the bike.  The foot bed/insole also acts as a springboard for the plantar fascia to press against during the power phase of the pedal stroke.  This creates a tension through the plantar fascia which is rather like that created when running via the windlass mechanism, thereby converting cycling into a more natural movement.  More importantly, this new tension is more easily recognised by the brain through the receptors in the foot simply because it is new and the brain is able to differentiate it from the many other messages coming in.
This is the neurological approach to bike fitting, which has been documented in the research and is used by highly rated bike fitters internationally.
We can further improve the contact through the use of wedges, including cleat wedges, forefoot wedges and heel wedges.  We then test each foot and leg independently using these adjuncts and search for an evenly spread load under the foot and a positive feeling of smoothness through the pedal stroke.  This positive feeling is the window into the central nervous system, so we keep adjusting until the rider finds the best feeling at the foot and through the pedal stroke.  i.e using a comparative testing model until an optimal result is found.  Then we move to the other foot and repeat the process.  After this, we then look for symmetry between the left and right leg.   See video below showing this process in action.

Force time plots marry up well with saddle pressure mapping as you will find  an improvement in one will lead to an improvement in the other.
This bike fit option includes a skinfold measurement and subsequent body fat percentage, and also any questions you may have around cycling specific nutrition and training structure are answered.
As part of the fully comprehensive bike fit,
you will be invited to join up and coming live webinar discussions and the following recorded presentations are made available to download:
  • - Do's and don'ts of turbo training at home
  • - FTP explained and how it influences our training
  • - Solving common cycling injuries and saddle issues
  • Cycling performance webinar
  • Tips from a Physio to a Cyclist for Performance, Comfort and Recovery
Include a follow up appointment to review your progress from initial bikefit position and movement screening and progress your cycling/triathlon specific exercise programme for an additional 80EUR
